Where did you grow up?

Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Do you have a favorite family tradition?

Going to my wife's parents' lake house at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri every summer.

Who’s someone who’s made a big impact on your life?

My grandfather. He passed away in 2025 at the age of 103. He was a shining example of what it means to be a strong and humble leader.

What’s one of your favorite places you’ve ever been?

Costa Rica — seeing sloths, toucans, and monkeys right outside your Airbnb window is a pretty surreal experience.

Can you share an experience that helped shape who you are?

Helping my dad with DIY projects around the house when I was young taught me the value of hard work.

What’s your go-to comfort food?

Pizza.

How did you end up in your current career?

About ten years ago, a musician friend of mine went through a software development bootcamp. I was a full-time musician at the time as well, and I had always been interested in web development, so I was very intrigued. I decided to attend the same bootcamp program. During the career fair toward the end of the program, I met a recruiter from Concord. I ended up getting hired at Concord right after I graduated, and the rest is history!

What’s a hobby or activity you really enjoy?

Woodworking.

When is a time you felt really proud of yourself?

I recently finished my basement and did 95% of the work myself (framing, electrical, flooring, cabinetry). It took a long time, but it felt really good once it was finally done and my family was able to enjoy the space.

What was your first job, and what did it teach you?

Bagging groceries at Hy-Vee when I was 14. It taught me that all those hours of playing Tetris when I was a kid actually had some practical applications after all.

What’s something people are surprised to learn about you?

In addition to being a drummer, I also play the guitar, bass, and piano.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
